I'm Seemab Kadva, a mum of two, a former teacher, and the author of every book on this site. Muum Books is the small press I started because I wanted my kids (and yours) to see themselves in joyful, honest stories.
Every story is hand-illustrated, lovingly edited, and printed in the UK. I package and post each order myself from my home in Bolton.
Why I started Muum Books
When my eldest was three, I noticed something missing on his shelf. He loved his picture books, but he never quite saw himself in them: not the food on his plate, not the people at the mosque, not even the names. I started writing the kind of stories I wanted him to grow up with: ordinary, joyful, and unmistakably ours.
What started as one self-published book is now a growing collection. Every title is illustrated by an artist I've worked closely with, edited around the school run, and packaged on my kitchen table.
